I have a Masters in integrative counselling from Manchester University, a certifcate in group analysis and foundation in hypnotherapy. I am a relational therapist and use aspects of models such as attachment, transference and compassion focused therapy, bringing together techniques from hypnotherapy, mindful awareness and an understanding of the body..
I am a member of the BACP and work within its ethical framework and this includes my own regular supervision, therapy and continuous professional development. As well as working privately, I also work within the NHS as a counsellor/psychotherapist and supervisor.
I have over 30 years experience of working with people in the public and voluntary sectors. I have worked with vulnerable people, in areas such as homelessness, substance misuse and mental health. I was a midwife for 18 years, mostly in a community setting including as a specialist in mental health and drug/alcohol use, and working within the Sure Start program. I have a particular interest in working with women and men around perinatal issues including birth trauma and can use hypnosis for reprocessing traumatic memories if appropriate as part of the therapeutic work.
I welcome clients from different backgrounds and cultures. LGBTQI+ friendly.
